Key Terms to Read Before
Accepting a Loan Offer
Before you accept any personal loan offer, go through the Key Facts Statement and the loan agreement carefully. Pay particular attention to the following.
The approved loan amount: is it what you applied for?
The interest rate type: is it fixed or variable?
The APR: this is the complete annual cost of your loan, including all charges.
The processing fee: how much is deducted at sanction, and does it affect the amount credited to your account?
The repayment tenure: how many months will you be repaying?
The EMI amount: can you comfortably pay this from your monthly salary?
Penal charges: what happens if you miss an EMI?
Prepayment and foreclosure terms: can you repay early, and is there a charge for doing so?
Do not rush this step. You are under no obligation to accept an offer and can take time to review before signing.
